Today was an exciting day for us. We left this morning to go into the city and get a prenatal massage. Dad had got me one for mother's day but i have yet to use it. So today was going to be the day. As I was looking for the place I was forced onto the curb which caused a scary blowout and also a leak of some kind. I hit the curb hard and it was loud. But It happened right where I needed to be so I did not have to drive on the rim very far at all. Erik had a meeting so I went ahead and got massage. It was wonderful! The lady did a wonderful job and Judah liked it too! After wards Erik met me to change the tire. The spare was also flat...but to our luck there was a discount tire right up the street, YEAH! We got a new tire and they said the leak was just condensation from the AC. Just to make sure I am taking into the shop in the morning...my check engine light came on when I was driving home.
An exciting day! I did get to hang out with Erik and have lunch with him so it was all worth. I am glad I did not have a blow out on the freeway or with Judah out of the womb. So any car problems that I am going to have I would rather get them over with now. I say that bc last week my car would not start...but it was just the battery.
Still counting down the days for Judah to arrive. I could not sleep last night at all. I am going to the bathroom about every hour or so. Some how I still manage to have energy during the day. I am hoping that the massage therapists hit some good pressure points that might speed up the waiting process. We will see!
This blog is going to be our life with Judah. We hope our friends and family can keep up with us and Judah by reading this. We will both try to post pics and write about the happenings in our life.

Blood Pressure Update
I went back up to the birth center to check on my BP this morning. Good news! It was perfect. So that is a huge relief. I had a feeling that is was a bad read bc I have not felt any light-headedness nor have I had any headaches. I still need to take it easy and only exercising in the early morning or late, late in the evening. It is Houston which is hot and humid here and I am a lot bigger than I was last year. I feel such a relief to know that the BP yesterday was a possible bad reading. The whole pregnancy my BP has been great despite the weight gain. That has been comforting to me and Erik. I will go back on Friday to get it checked again. All is well...just waiting for the beautiful little boy to grace us with his presence.

Week Number 28
We had an apt today and as usually Mommy gained more and more weight. Also for the first time my blood pressure was bad/awful. When it was taken laying down it was fine. So, now I must take it easy and no exercising in the heat or outside. Judah has dropped a little more which good! YEAH Judah! I need to eat more protein, bc that will help with the high blood pressure. I will go in and check out my blood pressure this week and in hopes of it being a one day deal. If my blood pressure conts. to stay like this I might have to be admitted to the hosp. for an induction. If the mother's blood pressure is high then the baby is not getting his blood or oxygen. So, it is really important to watch the blood pressure. I really thought I was doing great! I have been exercising daily and eating really healthy. The few things that I have not well during the pregnancy are eating ice cream too often and not getting enough protein. Other than that I have done really well with other food groups. So I feel bad for eating the ice cream and not working harder on the protein.
Well, other than that the weight and BP things look good! She said the average for first baby is 8 days after the due date...that would be Aug. 20th. Judah has a good strong heartbeat, he is in position and has moved a little farther down into my pelvis. I feel great despite the weight gain and high BP. I have not been light headed or had any headaches so that is a good sign.
I go Thurs for a prenatal massage! YEAH! I hope that will help with circulation.

Aunt Katie is ready!!!
Judah,
Aunt Katie keeps calling and checking on you. She is ready to hold and kiss you. She said she loves you so much already. She is even sleeping less bc she does not want to miss the call from Daddy.

Chiropractic/ Wellness Appointment
We had our first chiropractic adjustment today. I have never been to a Chiropractor. So I did not know what to expect. We talked about my overall health, goals, and pregnancy thus far. She did an eval on me...sort of like Yoga. She pointed out similar things that my Yoga instructor would point. It has always been my left hip. So then we decided to do an adjustment on me. It felt really good and I got to get on my tummy(with pillows). My goal was to get adjusted in hope that Judah will drop a little faster and also for preventive health. The down side is that preventive health like chiropractic care, massages, Yoga,....and things all those are not covered by ins. companies. My adjustments need to be limited.
She would like me to come back in on Mon. and Tues. to see where we are at and then possibly hit some pressure points after he drops....then labor. Sounds good to me but not the check book. I will see and hope he drops this weekend after the adjustment.
Judah was really quiet during the adjustment but now he is moving and shaking...so maybe it did open up some more room for him to move and DROP!!!!
She does prenatal and children and her guess is that he is over 9lbs. She felt his head and just by looking at me...Yeah i think he is over 9lbs. So i am giving birth to a toddler. I

Countdown till Judah
I forgot to mention at we are at 37 weeks now! So anytime is good. Judah is fully developed! Most women at the birth center go past their 40 week due date...which is completely normal and natural for our bodies. I am not considered late until Aug. 26th. But please pray that is sooner than later.
Nativitit Birth Center
I wanted to talk a little about where Judah will enter the world. I think that is important. We are having Judah at the local birth center here in The Woodlands,TX. I have a mid-wife (2 Katherine and Melanie), both are wonderful! We are doing a water birth so Judah will be born in the water. It should be a wonderful experience for all of three of us. The rooms are low lit, cozy, jaz. tubs...sort of like a bed and breakfast. It feels safe and comfortable. I think it is more than an ideal spot for us to start our new journey together as a family.
Last night was our last birthing class and yes a got a foot massage from Dad! It felt wonderful! It was at the birth center in a nice quiet room. It was nice to spend 15-20 minutes together with nothing to distract us. I also got a gift from Dad...a foot spa treatment. He said 2 people lately have gone into labor after having a foot spa. There are pressure points in the feet that could trigger a women to go into labor if it is done at the right time. So deciding when the right time is...is the hard point. I am going to at least wait until after my doc apt on Tues to go in and get the foot spa.
But was really neat about the last birthing class was that there was a baby girl being born. Yes, we stayed for class (only bc they said it was all right too..they meaning the parents) and we heard the labor for 2 hours and then all of the sudden we heard a little baby cry. It was precious!!! I cant wait for our turn.
The only discomforts I am having is swollen feet and not sleeping at night. Other than that I feel great! I have been swimming a lot and that helps with swollen feet and I can take naps during the day. At night I feel like I lie awake all night...I guess getting ready for motherhood.

The Countdown of Judah
Yesterday, 7-21-09
We had a visit at the birth center for a check up. It looks like we are still a few weeks away from holding Judah in our arms. Everything went well! Judah has a good strong heartbeat and strong kicks. However we think he will be a big baby boy! The record at Nativiti is 11lbs 12oz and we hope not to break the record. Mommy tested positive for Strep B so she will be on an IV during labor to prevent Judah from getting any sort of infection. Being on the IV with antibiotics almost brings the risk of Judah getting an infection to 0% but he could get thrush. We need to watch for that.
Tonight is out last birthing class and I think the Dads are doing something special for the Moms...foot massage maybe? Ill write about the class in a later blog.
