Two Week Check Up
Sorry for the late posts. We had our 2 week check up on Monday and Judah grew a lot. He was 7.14 lbs and now he is a 9.3lb baby boy. So, yes he is a good eater. His hearing is great, his pe-pe healed just fine. He is a big and healthy baby.
I have some pics that I need to upload of our first outing and his first party. The party was for the mid-wife that delivered him. Caroline, the mid-wife, is in school and is doing her residency at the Birth Center. It is takes 4 years to become a mid-wife and part of the schooling is to deliver 40 births. She completed the 40 birth part of her training so there was a party for her today. Judah slept for awhile then woke to get pics made and meet a lot of other babies. It was a fun day!

Late Nights
Judah has decided that he does not like to sleep from 10-1ish. Well, he likes to stay up for at least 3 hrs out of the night. Which is not bad at all except that he likes to scream for 3hrs or likes constant movement for 3hrs straight. The movement can NOT be electronic, it has to be Mommy or Daddy doing the movement. So yes we get tired very quickly. i have to say that Daddy is way better at this than Mommy. But Daddy has to get up to go to work so he only has a few nights of this. Daddy did discover swaddling...and how Judah likes it. Yes! it does works....so YEAH Daddy!
Judah's First Big Surgery
This past Wednesday we decided to get Judah circumcised. It was an awful day for all of us and I am most for Judah. He was such a big boy. It was pretty brutal but we did get to hold him during the cutting and that I think helped him knowing his Mommy and Daddy are right there with him.
Today we go back to the mid-wife to see how it healed up and also for his 2 week check up. So, ill give you guys an update of how the check-up goes.

A Beautiful Tuesday Morning!
I titled it a beautiful Tuesday morning because Judah slept most of the night, YEAH Judah! He only woke to burp, which Daddy did, and then he was out again until 430...We were soooo happy!
This morning Judah started his first bible study. Judah and I (Mommy) started one year bible study this morning. We read about Ezra reading the law to the people, a psalm about God's greatness, a proverb, and Romans...God's grace and what it means. Then we prayed together for Sydney (our new little girlfriend), Nikki, Mike, Jackson, Scout...they are traveling from Dallas to see us, Daddy, and Mommy to be great Christian parents. I really want to read the bible and pray everyday with Judah...as I look into his little eyes every second of each day I realize what a huge responsibility Erik and I have to this adorable little boy. We need God's greatness and guidance. Everything we choose to do or not to do affects Judah in such a powerful way. God will see us through.
We also read a parable about this alligator that wanted everything perfect. His wife loved the garden but bc it was not perfect with rows he never went and saw it. He died an unhappy alligator. What is perfection? Who is perfect? ....we talked about that after wards.
We walked the garden and saw what an awesome job Daddy does with the flowers and paths! Judah is excited to help out in the garden one day.
Judah is sleeping now. When he wakes I am going to give him a bath, which he loves. Then we are going to vacuum the house before our visitors get here. Then we will nap together, my favorite part of the day.

All About Judah
I wanted to updated you guys on how Judah is doing and what he has been doing.
Day One
Judah was 2 hours when he held his up. Yes! he really did hold up his as the mid-wife was doing the new baby screen....amazing! Maybe because he was a drug free baby?! I dont know but I like to think so...It was painful! Plus he is so alert and he moves his eyes to follow noise and our voices.
His first family dinner was eggplant parm. made by DIDI(Erik's Mom) and it was so delicious!
Day Two
First doc apt. He weighed in at 7lbs 9ozs. His birth weight was 7lbs. 14oz but loosing some weight for the 1st few weeks is perfectly normal. His pedrt. is Dr. Rebecca Hill with Hometown Pedtr. and we really like her alot.
Day Three
We went showed off our beautiful boy at the birth center and everyone loved him and thought he was the perfect combination of both Mommy and Daddy. Erik's mom thought he looked nothing like me but I found some baby pics and Judah looks soooo much like his mom. I am going to try and scan the photo so everyone else can compare. Anyways Judah DOES look alot like his Mom and Dad.

Judah screamed all night...yes screamed! A lso in the evening Judah rolled over, it was on the couch, but he still rolled over.

Judah's first cook out! We had burgers and veggie burgers, watermelon, salad, homemade pot. fries, and cheesecake (Nana's Fav.)

Nap Time
Yes, Judah still has not adjusted to sleeping at night so Daddy is really tired. Erik has been staying up with him at night except he wakes me up to feed him. Our mid-wife said it could take a couple of weeks for him to adjust to the new night time sch. I know what she is talking about bc the last few weeks while Judah was in the womb it was hard to sleep at night and he was wide awake! We love him so much and one day we will wish we could go back to the sleepless nights.

Laboring at Nativiti
I wanted to share my story of my labor at the Birth Center.
From the time I arrived for my active part of labor until the time we walked out we were all family with all the caregivers. It was awesome! I always had at least someone there plus my wonderful husband encouraging me, coping with me, and telling me what was going on with my body. I was never alone or feeling discouraged. They said I was great and I could do it which I can and did! I had such wonderful care and care by people that love doing what they do and not ones there just to get a paycheck. We are both so glad we chose the birth center. It was also homey...low lights, soft music, everything was comfortable and cozy. We had amazing, excellent care!
The labor was long, hard, and pain that is describable. Yes, I would go 100% natural again. I would only do it again with my wonderful husband and the birth center. Erik stayed by my side the whole 24hours holding my hand and heart. He never left or stopped encouraging. I could not have gotten through the labor without Erik. We did it together and it was the most beautiful experience either one of us has experience and also the hardest.
In the end we got a beautiful baby boy, Judah Noble Trevino...weighing 7lbs 14 oz and 20 inches in length.
We at home by 10am after a quiche breakfast (thanks Debbie), a few stitches (yes he did rip me a little), an herbal bath, breastfeeding 101, and saying our goodbyes to the wonderful staff.
It was beautiful...also thanks be to God for the natural highs of his "drugs". Yes the whole time I felt and looked drugged. A weird feeling but awesome how God works.

Labor & Delivery of Baby Judah
Yes! Baby Judah has arrived!
Daddy had bought Mommy a reflexology foot spa, hoping to get labor started a little quickly, well it might have worked. The due date was August 12th and usually the first child comes late. The average is eight days late. But after the foot spa contractions started and that was Thursday. Contractions continued until Saturday morning and then they resided. I had called on Thursday to talk to my mid-wife, Melanie, and she said I was possibly in pre-labor. Saturday was a bit disappointing so we thought.
Saturday night at 11 the contractions started up again but a little more painful. It was a sleepless night for Mommy. At 4am Mommy woke up Daddy because something was REALLY happening. We started timing contractions for an hour they are were 5mins apart and lasting anywhere from 45sec. to 1 min. So this is it! We called our Moms and said we are in early labor!
We went to there birthing center at 930am. I was 90% effaced, 2 cm, and at station -2. They said for me to go eat, try to sleep, and walk, walk ,walk. I did not feel like eating as I felt sick. I did get about 2 hours of off and on sleep. Debbie , my mother-in-law, had gotten here by this time. So, around 5pm we went back up there to see if we made any progress as the contractions were stronger and little shorter. At 530pm I was a still 90% effaced, 3cm and station -3. My water had not broken yet and they had said if I was a 4 they could break the water and it would speed up the process but I was not. So back home we went. I walked the stairs, did nipple stimulation, drank an energy shake, and ate. My contractions at this point were really, really strong. I called the mid-wife at reported what I was feeling and what I had done. She asked when my last BM was? She was confused bc of the strength of my contractions. Which my last BM was about 3 days ago....that was the problem. We fixed that problem and went back to the birth center at 930pm.
At 930 pm I was having strong contractions for hours now at 3mins apart and lasting 60-90 secs apart. So , yes intense at this point. The low grunting kind. I was at a 4-5cm and 100% effaced. They tried breaking my water but could not get it. However my contractions were extremely strong so we got to stay this time bc active labor is near. I tried laboring in bed, on the ball, but bc of the strength of the contractions it was hard. They decided to let me in water early! YEAH!
The water a relief! So not to go into anymore nasty, scarey details I labored in the water and in various positions. At 349 am my body finally pushed our beautiful little boy out into the onderful world to meet his new family. Yes! I was in hard labor for almost 24 hours, the average for first timers is 21hrs. All said and done it was worth and I would not have changed it!

This post was supposed to be a video from Judah's first night, but I couldn't get it uploaded. I am trying to upload it on FB. The video takes place right before bedtime, or what we suggested to Judah would be bedtime. But he thought the next 3 hours would be better spent crying. But finally, after trying EVERYTHING, I took him downstairs so Jenn could get some rest. And who would have guessed that would be the solution? Why would a one day old baby prefer sleeping downstairs? We have our guesses: increased atmostpheric pressure at the lower altitude, warmer climate downstairs, we have many theories. But they remain theories. All we know for sure is that after 3 hours of crying, baby Judah finally allowed his mommy to sleep after he was taken downstairs to sleep with his daddy on the couch.
Maybe tomorrow night he'll sleep better.

WEEK #29
One more week to go or we hope less! Melanie, the Mid-Wife, thinks we do not have much longer within the next 10days or less. I am 50% effaced, dilated about at a 1, and Judah is low, low. So all good news from Melanie.
Today I went and got a reflexology spa pedicure. It felt absolutely wonderful and I hope she hit some pressure points. I think she did. I have had several contractions since the spa. Some have been painful but I do not want to get too excited. My stomach has been aching so it could just be that.
I will keep you guys posted on the progression of baby Judah.

Counting Crows Concerts
On Saturday evening Judah attended his "first" concert, the Counting Crows, Erik's favorite band. I have seen them now 3 times and Erik has seen them about 15 times. I am sure many more times to come. I was a lovely evening. It was an outside concert at Sam Houston Race Park. We brought our lawn chairs and just enjoyed people watching, snow cones!, and the music. Judah liked it (I hope) he was very active but it was also loud. If he is anything like his Dad he will love music esp. singer song writers. I will post a pic soon.
Baby Judah Dropped!
A lot has happened at least we think! Friday night I made an extra spicy dish...I heard spicy foods could help things move along. Anyways has I was making it I was thinking I hope this works bc Ill pay the price if it does not AKA...indigestion. Anyways that night I had lots of movement and pains. We started to feel around and noticed he moved down a lot and no indigestion! So I think it worked!
So, yes he dropped down Friday night. That means it could be up 2 weeks before I actually go into labor but we are a step closer. Now I have a lot more pelvic pressure since he is sitting on my pelvic bones and I have the waddle a bit more too. My contractions are still coming but I have not really felt any real painful ones yet...just a few. My energy level has gone down. This past week I had lots of energy and this weekend I had none. Maybe its my body telling me to save the energy bc laborland is nearing.
We go back to the Mid-wife on Wednesday...which is also a full moon.
